April 28

Ria and Gus both attended our local Catholic homeschool conference and enjoyed a number of the talks.

Gus especially loved Mary Daly's talk on Geology and bought his own copy (after procuring a loan from his cousin). The family got to listen to it on Sunday and it was indeed a wonderful talk. I loved how she brought in so many local details. Ria attended this talk too and we've had a number of interesting discussions since then. Geology is the one area of Science that Ria's had some significant interest in. I was reading the Let's Read and Find Out Rock Collecting Book (can't remember the exact title off-hand) aloud to a bunch of the kids a few days later and we had a nice chat about Moh's scale and why diamonds are valuable.

Ria especially loved the talk for teens by Fr. Don Brick at Holy Hill and Nancy Brown's Chesterton talk and Maureen Wittmann's talk about jobs.
